Greg introduced Frank to discuss our Visioning program with an emphasis on growing membership.
He has gotten many good ideas and direction from members and also planning help from Harriet Downer at the District level. He outlined three areas of focus for us...
Projects: Greenhouse construction and completion on The Epic Day of Service. This will require that we finalize the site for the structure in the next few weeks.
Fundraising: The Fruit Sale has been a worthwhile source of revenue, although sales were down last year. It was recommended that we start our efforts earlier this year. Steve and Frank will partner to plan and organize the sale. In addition to an early start, suggestions included half case sales and enlisting the CPBA as potential customers/participants. Barbara would also like to consider another pancake breakfast as a club fundraiser. Greg mentioned that his service club in Arizona had raised several thousand dollars selling squares for the recent Super Bowl. The conversation led to the subject of making our Final Four Basketball Pick'em open to more players in order to make it more of a fundraiser. Steve has been the tourney commissioner in past years and it was decided that Frank will join him to help coordinate and design an invitation to play for friends and family of members.
Membership: Laura and Reno distributed their worksheet from December which outlines member recruitment goals & tactics. The discussion included a past-member outreach, changing our meeting format, and increasing the number of speakers each month in order to encourage visitors to attend. Other ideas included using communication and contact platforms like meetup.com and bizzbuzz. Also, stepping up our efforts on FaceBook with additional marketing. There is a cost but it would be a small monthly fee.
Frank was armed with action items and he is following up with members via email!
