Bill reviewed Return on Rotary with us. This Rotary year we have contributed $12,640 and given 199.75 in volunteer hours. This past month many of our members contributed their time to projects in the name of our club. Thanks to all the volunteers!
Membership dues statements are out, so please make your payment. Also, if you're inclined, make a donation to the Rotary Foundation today either by check to Bill or go to the RI website and pay online.
Bill also discussed the difference between the club's foundation, "Denver Stapleton Rotary Foundation" and the Rotary International Foundation when members make gifts. He also reminded us that by using King Sooper cards members can earn Kroger dollars for the club. Join by going to kroger.com, community rewards, and select the link to search for our club.
Greg led a discussion regarding rearranging our lunches and happy hours. Happy hours are generally more popular with members but some prefer lunch get-togethers, too. Members voted to set in the club's schedule two HH's to one lunch on our calendar. Steve agreed to add these to the club calendar.
The date and place has been set for this year's induction dinner celebrating Greg's great year and Laura's incoming year. It will be held at the JA Free Enterprise Center, 6500 Greenwood Plaza Blvd, on Jun 17 at 6:00pm. The club will provide the entree' and members will bring appetizers and desserts (Assignment pending.) along with what each would like to drink.
Frank and Steve are getting started planning this summer's fruit sale. Stay tuned!

Lance, while shepherding our greenhouse project with Callie, has gotten more involved in soil sustainability, beneficial worms and how soils can be improved, particularly in container growing.
His talk expanded to include information regarding soil management in farming and how scientists are advocating that soil should be improved not with commercial fertilizers as much as improving soils through managing microorganisms in soils. They are also promoting no-till farming to preserve top soils. These practices help keep carbon in the ground, too. If you want to learn more he recommends watching "Common Ground" streaming on Netflix.
Back to the worms: Lance buys Red Wigglers for his container soil. He starts with a blend potting soil, dairy manure & topsoil, then adds the worms. Over time they add aeration and nutrients to the mix.
Lance regards our greenhouse project as a small part of Rotary's effort to improve the environment and educate the world's youth.
