Business - 8/11
Reno informed us the Rotary Youth Compliance form will need to be signed as the club forms its Interact Club.
Monica & Nick continue to proceed with our club involvement creating an Interact club. Monica will be meeting with an advisor with Denver Online high school next week to coordinate the effort.
Dick Poole presented a possible fundraiser for the club: A shredding day to provide opportunities for the community to bring paper items to be securely destroyed. He will do further investigation and will spearhead the project.
Callie recommends a September date for volunteering at the Food Bank. Stay tuned.
Nick suggested that we consider a "Pints For Polio" fundraiser. Details are forthcoming.
Nick also recommended that we update our Rotary branded wear, adding a Polo shirt for our events. There was positive response & he will proceed.

Bill Simmerman
Rotary International Projects
Nick & Ed introduced Bill Simmerman with the Highlands Ranch Club, and District Governor Elect, to discuss Rotary International Projects.
Bill discussed various international projects that he's been involved with in his 20 years in Rotary. His father was a Rotarian, and district governor in Pennsylvania with 75 years of perfect attendance.
Bill, a past club president of Highlands Ranch, has been instrumental to ongoing multi-year service projects in Costa Rica and Belize. He shared his involvement in providing wheelchairs in Costa Rica and prosthetic legs in Belize.
His involvement in projects is a product of his love of travel. During his trips he explores opportunities for projects that can solve local needs through Rotary service from our district. Currently, in his recent visit to Belize, Bill became aware of a need for protecting young bicyclists riding in traffic without lights at night. The solution: reflective tape that can be easily shipped to the area, and easily applied by local Rotarians.
He suggested that as we travel we should consider local needs that a Rotary service project could address. He encourages visiting local Rotary clubs, with an eye on servicing needs through collaborative projects.
We will see Bill again next year when he visits our club in his capacity as District Governor.
