Business - 7/28 

Reno presided at his first meeting.
Steve recapped the fruit sale: Unfortunately sales were down 24% from last year, profit down 11%. A few factors: early purchase & delivery requirement, no pears this year, & website could use improvement if we continue to operate it on ClubRunner. Thanks to everyone who participated this year!
Monica & Nick continue to proceed with our club involvement creating an Interact club.
Brent is exploring the possibility of creating a chess club in an elementary school. There could be an opportunity for Rotary involvement through a Rotary Fellowship. Tom provided some details concerning the fellowship. Stay tuned.
Reno reminded us of the Movie Night at the MCA event. We can join the CCPA tent and staff a table to highlight our club. He will explore participation opportunities.
Lance's friend, and frequent guest, Dick Poole joined us to talk about an effort in which he's involved: The Byers Farm, located east of Denver, educates urban children about food production and agriculture. Most kids don't know where and how the things they eat appear on their plates, Dick explained. Groups such as Boys & Girls clubs are involved presently. There might be a participation opportunity for the club.
Bill reports that the club has paid our District dues, and also Rotary International dues.

World At Hand

Shawn joined us to talk about the organization he founded, World At Hand which offers scholarship opportunities to area student to travel abroad.

The East High graduate started WAH based on his own experience traveling to New Zealand after graduation. He stayed for a decade!
Today WAH supports low-income and underrepresented students in accessing cross-cultural and global experiences that intentionally develop long-term personal, academic, and professional growth.

Shawn envisions a world shaped by locally rooted, globally grown leaders who strengthen their communities with cross-cultural understanding, inclusive leadership, and a commitment to growth.

Their Global Scholars Pathway is a set of award-winning programs designed to remove barriers to international education and provide students with the resources they need to study, travel and grow globally.
