Dick reports that the SHRED Event is coming together. It will be held on Oct 24 from 9 - 12. He is in the process of confirming the event location and will keep us advised. We are holding this in conjunction with Montbello 20/20.
Lance informed us that Lucy will be unavailable to set up the Thanksgiving meal at Open Arms this year due to her travel. Callie graciously volunteered to help coordinate next month. She will be giving us sign up for the various assignments.
Callie also announced that she and Greg are planning to head up the Holiday Basket program this December.
Nick is working Pints for Polio with Denver Beer Co - targeting 10/24
Nick is also working on the Rotary logo sport shirt project and has the shirt identified for printing and rolling it out.
Frank reminds us to bring our men's clothing for the STEP Winter Clothing Drive for next week's final collection.
Kit Matzke - Global Health Grant Scholar
Barbara introduced Kit, the club's Global Health Grant recipient who recently returned after having completed her project in Guatemala.
Kit visited to share details of her project: Child Development Screening in Guatemala. The project site is in the rural southwest: inland, impoverished, hot & humid with the nearest hospital almost an hour away. The site is the Trifinio Center for Human Development and is a collaboration between the University of Colorado, Children's Colorado and AgroAmerica Plantation. The complex is the home to a community clinic, research labs, and houses nursing outreach teams.
Kit's project was to produce a developmental screening tool for the Ninos Santos program: make it fast, observable, easy to learn and administer.
Her site visit allowed her to better understand the team, the area, and the purpose.
She thanked the club for the financial support that helped make her travel and study possible.

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:
FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions, the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations, and the dignifying of each Rotarian’s occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian’s personal, business, and community life;
FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
